About

Clare Kennedy is an Australian architect operating in Australia and South-East Asia.

Her particular interest in the use of local materials in construction. She believes in meaningful buildings born of their place, its people and their local resources. Clare has a passion for earthen construction and ceramics in architecture. She runs a workshop in Brisbane making bricks and tiles by hand using local soils for use in her projects and public exhibitions.

Clare undertakes projects either on her own or as part of Five Mile Radius - a practice she founded in 2016 to research and promote the use of construction materials local to building sites. Alongside her practice she is involved in academia, holding various lecturing positions with universities in Australia and abroad.  Clare regularly publishes, exhibits and presents her work.
